David Caudle first forayed into the theatrical arena through scenic design. An accomplished scenic and fine art painter, David maintains this interest by writing plays about painters (ie LIKENESS) and occasionally by picking up a brush himself.

Founder and Former Artistic Director Rafael De Acha and his successor, Artistic Director Ricky J. Martinez, are men of great humanity and vision, as well as talented theatre artists. Thanks to Managing Director Eileen Suarez, Literary Manager Tara Vodihn, and a host of other dedicated artists and technicians, the New Theatre is a jewel in South Florida's theatre community.
Artistic Director Ryan Rilette has gone through an incredibly challenging year with a great deal of integrity and aplomb. He loves theatre for what it can do to enrich the lives of everyone it touches. He has worked tirelessly to keep Southern Rep alive after Katrina, on top of all he, his wife Christy, and all his fellow New Orleanians have had to deal with in restoring their personal lives. The support he's gotten nation-wide demonstrates to me an understanding of the importance of art in our lives, second only to health, food and shelter.
I'm so happy with this web site. It's creative yet simple and understated. The designer was great to work with and gave me excellent guidance throughout the decision process. I highly recommend short noodle soup!

David Salle is my favorite painter. He has developed a unique image-based language, which speaks eloquently and with occasional humor. His pieces tell stories that feel both removed and highly personal at the same time. He also collaborates as a scenic designer with the innovative choreographer, Karole Armitage, and is a talented film director.
